| Born into a
musical family, Kevin began playing tuba in 5th grade followed closely by
alto sax, trumpet and drums. As each child in his 8 member family
discarded an instrument, Kevin took it up. He played his first
professional gig at age 11 and toured Europe at the age of 13. Kevin was a
member of the Wayne State Symphonic Band that toured China, as was John
Miller. Following an extensive playing
career in High School and college, Kevin toured with the Temptations, Four
Tops, Spinners and Ambrosia. He also toured the US, Canada and Japan as a
member of Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, "The One Hit Wonders of
the Seventies" and a short stint in the National Touring Company of
"Jesus Christ Superstar" as an understudy for Carl
Anderson. While living in California, Kevin
also worked as a technician for many national acts, performing with them
when needed, such as Fleetwood Mac and Neal Morse. Upon his return to
Michigan, Kevin earned a Master's Degree in Music from Oakland University
and later taught there. As an in-demand player around town, Kevin has
played with local bands including Steve King and The Dittilies, The Vidiotz,
Jocelyn B and the Detroit Street Players, the Contours, The Teen Angels
and many more. Kevin brings a rare talent with the ability to sing lead,
as well as play over 24 instruments with The Sound Alternative. |
